Aimée Hironaka Juteau

While born in Marquette Michigan, Aimée Hironaka Juteau grew up in the Central Valley of California. While she enjoyed arts and craft time during school, she never saw herself as a traditionally creative person and thus initially pursued other career paths. When several teachers pointed out her unique style of drawing, she decided to change majors and study textile design. She experiments with various techniques and is particularly fond of reactive dyes and heat transfer. She also innovates fabric technique with natural dyes from food waste and often repurposes scraps and failed projects into new designs. She often draws inspiration from her multicultural background juxtaposing influences into cohesive designs. Aimée will receive her BFA in Textile Design from the Academy of Art University located in San Francisco in the Spring of 2024.
